Dear Ellie,

The best way to send pictures by e-mail is to send them as an attachment. Sometimes if you insert the picture directly into your e-mail message, all your recipient will see is a red X where the picture should be.

If you are using Windows XP, it is very easy to send your pictures by e-mail.

1. Click on "Start" then "My Documents" or "My Pictures" depending on where your pictures are located.

2. Find the picture or pictures that you want to send, and click once to select the picture. To select more than one, hold down the Ctrl key while you click on each picture. Release the Ctrl key when you are finished selecting.

3. Right click on any one of the selected pictures and point to "Send To" then click on "Mail Recipient". Windows XP will offer to make the pictures smaller so they will transfer faster. Select your option and click "OK".

4. Windows XP will quickly create a new e-mail message with the picture(s) attached.

In earlier versions of Windows, you will need to create the new e-mail first, then click on "Insert" and "File Attachment".

A window will open up to allow you to find the picture. Find the picture, click on it and click the "Attach" button.
