Did you ever notice that when you install a new program in XP there is a message that pops up and tells you that a new program has been installed?

While I think it is nice of Microsoft to think of adding that little feature, I don't like the fact that it blocks the item that I am actually trying to click on.

Well, there is a way to turn it off completely.

1. Click "Start", and right-click at the top of the Start menu where your name is displayed, and click "Properties”

2. In the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window, click on the "Start Menu" tab, and click "Customize".

3. Click the "Advanced" tab, and then click to remove the check mark from "Highlight newly installed programs".

4. Click OK, twice and now that message will no longer be popping up and getting in your way.
