Dear Computer lady,

Your newsletter is wonderful.  What I would like to know, how do I remove temporary files.  When my local computer service has to update my files or solve problems, they usually clean off all my temporary files because they are taking up memory.  How do I do this?

Thanks, Mary

Dear Mary,

There are several types of temporary files you can remove.

Temporary Internet files can be easily removed from the Control Panel. Just double click on "Internet Options" find the section labeled "Temporary Internet Files" and click the button that says "Delete Files"

Removing other temporary files is not as easy. Probably the best way is to use the "Disk Clean Up" feature found by going to "Start", "Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and "Disk Cleanup".

When I service computers, I delete many more files, but it is something that should only be done by an experienced computer technician.
