Dear Computer Lady,

I have been reading your column since I got my computer over 3 years ago.  I really do enjoy it and have had a lot of questions answered. But I now have a question that I don't remember ever seeing addressed in your column.

How can I print a picture that was taken with the wide range on the computer. I have tried and I don't get much of the picture at all.  I have some pictures that can't be replaced since the person has since died, but I just can't print them out and I am so afraid that I will lose them.

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.  Keep up the wonderful work you are doing, it has been very helpful to me and, I know, many other people

Thank you very much, Dale

Dear Dale,

First, be sure you back your pictures up onto a CD! That is the best medium for saving valuable files.

To print your pictures, you need a program that is made to print photos. I like to use Microsoft Picture-it, or Jasc After Shot. There are many programs that will print pictures in standard 3x5, 5x7 or 8x10 format.

You can also upload the pictures to a printing service like Shutterfly at www.shutterfly.com . They will print your pictures and send you the prints for a reasonable price, and the picture will be saved on their website for future printing. I'm not sure how long they keep pictures.
