Dear Computer Lady,
I have windows XP and would like to know if it is possible to use my software from windows 98 on the XP. I have started to install a pc camera I already had and it tells me that if I continue I might damage my system. It is such a waste to have to replace all my former software.

In my experience, most programs from Windows 98 will work well in windows XP.
To protect yourself from the few that might make a mess of your system, create a system restore point before installing the software.
Click on "Start" go to "All Programs", "Accessories", "System Tools" and click on "System Restore".
Click on "Create a Restore Point" and then Click "Next".
Type a name for your restore point, and click "Create".
Windows XP will create a restore point which you can go back to if the software causes a problem.
